On Sunday 25 August, it’s the Chadkirk Artist of the Year competition! We have a very special Sunday open day for you this month, as we host a drawing and painting competition.
We’re inviting you to come along and capture the beauty of Chadkirk. The competition is open to people of all ages.
There are three age categories: children (up to 12); young adults (12–18) and adults (over 18). For each category there is a prize of a £50 Amazon voucher for the best entry. The competition will be judged by two local professional artists and one of the Friends of Chadkirk committee. We do need artists to declare if they are professional (by which we mean ‘earns money from artwork’). Work is judged on its merit, but we do need to take skill levels into consideration.
You can work in any media, or in mixed media. The subject can be anything in or around the chapel, garden and grounds – or on the Chadkirk Estate. It has to be created on the day, within a three-hour window.
Final judging will take place at the end of the day, and our judges will be checking on progress as you work. All children (those under 16) must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
You must provide your own materials. There is no charge to take part. You must register first online, to help us manage numbers.
Please note: by submitting your artwork, you agree to allow us to print your artwork should they win or be shortlisted, add your photos to our website and Facebook group as the competition unfolds – and use them on promotional material.Your artwork remains yours, you just allow it to exhibit them online and in the chapel.
Please note: if the weather is against us on the day, then the event will be cancelled - we will inform those who have registered to take place.
The chapel will be open for people to visit. The kiosk inside the chapel will be selling refreshments such as hot and cold drinks, cakes and biscuits (cash only). Why not pop down for a break, a chat and to explore this lovely, listed building, the walled garden and perhaps take a walk around the Chadkirk Trail? All funds raised are used for the benefit of Chadkirk, the chapel, the walled garden and the country estate.
If you’re new to the chapel, and driving to reach us, the car park is on Vale Road, just on the left as you turn off the main road. The chapel can then be reached on foot via the road and path.
