The Decibelles’ Christmas Concert 2023
Join us for carols by candlelight, as the wonderful female choir, The Decibelles, return to Chadkirk for what promises to be a wonderful evening.
We’re delighted to welcome The Decibelles Choir, an outstanding ladies’ choir with members from all across Stockport. The Decibelles Choir will be performing a programme of both traditional and contemporary songs. The Decibelles Choir has performed several times at Manchester Cathedral. The ticket price includes a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie. All of the proceeds will go to the Friends of Chadkirk and local charities. The chapel is a unique setting for this kind of event so don’t miss out on what is sure to be a really memorable concert. Doors open 6:30 pm for 7: 00pm start.
The Decibelles last performed at Chadkirk in 2021, and we’re really pleased to see them return.
All tickets for this event have now gone.

An evening of Christmas Ghost stories
Telling ghost stories at Christmas was a popular tradition in Victorian Britain – and the Friends of Chadkirk are reviving this tradition. Imagine: the chapel, dimly lit – in the corner by the statue of St Chad, a storyteller. There will be gothic tales to chill the bone, along with alcoholic drinks and refreshments to warm the spirit.
Readers include ex-BBC presenter Colin Sykes and his wife Janette - plus a few of the Friends of Chadkirk.
We suggest that this event is not suitable for younger children.
This event is tickets only, but tickets are free of charge. We do ask, please, only book tickets if you intend to come and not ‘just in case’ – we have limited space and this stops others from coming and leaves the chapel looking empty. All tickets for this event have now gone.

Why not pop down for a break, a chat and to explore this lovely, listed building, the walled garden and perhaps take a walk around the Chadkirk Trail? All funds raised are used for the benefit of Chadkirk, the chapel, the walled garden and the country estate. If you’re new to the chapel, and driving to reach us, the car park is on Vale Road, just on the left as you turn off the main road. The chapel can then be reached on foot via the road and path.
Chadkirk Summer picnic and garden party
We’re hosting a garden party/picnic day at Chadkirk Chapel.
Music from James Gansler
We’ve arranged some very special entertainment in the form of singer/guitarist James Gansler, who will be performing a range of popular pop, rock, blues and folk songs. James played for us last year, and those who came along will remember what a cracking day that was. James will be playing a couple of sets, outside if the weather blesses us again.
Meet the Daleks from Doctor Who
You can bring your own food and drink and picnic in the walled garden or on the lawn.
We also have colouring sheets and giant games to amuse the children, such as Giant Connect 4, Giant Jenga, Giant Dominos and so on (no charge to use).
We’ll also be selling hot and cold drinks, cakes and snacks – cash only. All funds raised are used for the benefit of Chadkirk, the chapel, the walled garden and the country estate.
Please note that we’ve moved our opening day this month from the last Sunday in the month in order to accommodate a wedding.
For those coming in cars, unless disabled, can we please ask that you park in the car park at the entrance to Vale Road and make your way to the chapel on foot. When you get to the corner of the lane, we suggest that the path to the left of Vale Road is not only safer, it gives you a better view of the Coronation Meadow.
Chapel open to the public
The chapel will be open for people to visit. The kiosk inside the chapel will be selling refreshments such as hot and cold drinks, cakes and biscuits (cash only).

At 4:00pm we will be hosting a volunteer meet-and-greet. Those who are already volunteers are invited to join us – as is anyone who would like to volunteer to help out at the chapel, for example, serving drinks, helping out with events, organising events, gardening and more.
Easter Monday children's egg-hunt trail
Easter Monday, 10 April, we will be hosting our annual Easter Egg Hunt at Chadkirk Chapel – aimed at your little ones. Children have to find ‘clues’ hidden around the chapel, garden and grounds and, in reward, are given chocolate prizes. All children must be accompanied. The entry fee is £1.
The chapel will also be open to visitors and we’ll be selling hot and cold drinks, plus cakes and snacks – cash only.
