Chadkirk Ghost Story Night – A Christmas Carol

  • Chadkirk Chapel and Country Estate Vale Road Stockport, England, SK6 United Kingdom (map)

This event is fully booked but you can join the wait list here

Perhaps the most famous Christmas ghost story of all time, A Christmas Carol was personally abridged for performance by Charles Dickens himself – Dickens would tour, reading the abridged version live.

It’s this version of A Christmas Carol that we present for you this evening. Our readers are Colin and Janette Sykes, with John Pengelly and Peter Labrow from The Friends of Chadkirk.

We would suggest that this is not suitable for younger children, who could grow restless, but we don’t discourage families and their attendance is at your discretion. There are, of course, adult themes of death.

Tickets for this event are free, but we would encourage donations on the night, to go to local charities. Please do not book tickets ‘just in case’ but only if you intend to come. The chapel is small and if people don’t turn up not only does it stop others enjoying the event, even a couple of empty tables can affect the atmosphere! And we do want atmosphere!

Tickets are fully taken for this event, but in the event of cancellation, you can add yourself to our waiting list.

Refreshments will be available, including Prosecco, beer and wine (cash only).

Please note that this is a reading/storytelling, not a play.

Special edition hardback and paperback copies of A Christmas Carol

We will be reading the version of A Christmas Carol which Dickens himself abridged for performance. We have produced both hardback and paperback ‘Chadkirk editions’ of these, which will be available on the night. Both have colour covers and are illustrated. The hardback is £12 and the paperback is £6. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Revenue from these goes to the Friends of Chadkirk, to help with the upkeep of the chapel and running events. Book sales are cash only.

They will also be available our our coming open days and our Christmas events.
