Join us for a community event day at Chadkirk Chapel, to celebrate the dressing of the well.
We open our doors at 12:00noon and should be winding up around 5:00pm. The formal blessing of the well takes place at 1:00pm. The well will be blessed by Father Gregory Hallam, from St. Aidan's Orthodox Church, Manchester.
In the chapel, we will be serving hot and cold drinks, cake and Prosecco. At the moment we are still cash only.
Outside in the gardens, there will be lots going on.
The Stockport Silver Band, Stockport Ukulele Players and Stockport Morris Men will be performing.
There will be stalls selling locally grown plants, second-hand books, cards, paintings, crafts, Chadkirk Comfrey Oil and Chadkirk Elderflower Cordial.
Local community groups will also be taking part; there will be a making and crafting stall and, of course, a tombola!
On the day, please help us to manage the event
For those of you who are arriving by car, the car park for the chapel is on the left, just as you turn into Vale Road from Otterspool Road. Stewards will be on hand to direct you.
There will be overflow parking further down Vale Road, but please don’t drive down unless directed. Please do not park on Vale Road.
Please be aware that Vale Road provides access to residents’ houses both on Vale Road near the car park and further up, past the chapel, at Burymewick. Vale Road is single track for some of its distance so please show patience and respect to those who need to access their houses or park outside them.
After parking, you will need to walk to the chapel on foot. From the car park or overflow car park, walk down Vale Road until it becomes a single track – and then take the footpath at the side of the field until you reach either the chapel or the well.
The nature of Chadkirk Estate is that it was not built to accommodate large numbers of people or cars, so some cooperation is helpful. There will be a ‘drop off’ facility for the less agile, which is 100m from the chapel and well – after dropping off, your car would need to be parked in the main car park or overflow car park. A small number of blue badge spaces are also available. If you need to use either of these, please ask a steward. There will be portaloos on site, near the chapel.
