It’s Chadkirk Artist of the Year! We have a very special Sunday open day for you this month, as we host a drawing and painting competition – Chadkirk Artist of the Year.

We’re inviting you to come along and capture the beauty of Chadkirk. The competition is open to people of all ages.

There are three age categories: children (up to 12); young adults (12–18) and adults (over 18). For each category there is a prize of a £50 Amazon voucher for the best entry. The competition will be judged by two local professional artists and one of the Friends of Chadkirk committee.

You can work in any media, or in mixed media. The subject can be anything in or around the chapel, garden and grounds – or on the Chadkirk Estate. It has to be created on the day, within a three-hour window.

Final judging will take place at the end of the day, and our judges will be checking on progress as you work. All children (those under 16) must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

You must provide your own materials. There is no charge to take part. You must register first online, to help us manage numbers. https://chadkirkchapel.org/artist-registration

As part of our well dressing celebrations, there will be performers (The Stockport Ukulele Players, and The Phoenix Handbell Ringers - plus The Romiley Railway Modellers) inside the chapel.

The chapel will be open for people to visit. The kiosk inside the chapel will be selling refreshments such as hot and cold drinks, cakes and biscuits (cash only). Why not pop down for a break, a chat and to explore this lovely, listed building, the walled garden and perhaps take a walk around the Chadkirk Trail? All funds raised are used for the benefit of Chadkirk, the chapel, the walled garden and the country estate. If you’re new to the chapel, and driving to reach us, the car park is on Vale Road, just on the left as you turn off the main road. The chapel can then be reached on foot via the road and path.
